Transition

Moving from primary school to secondary school is a very important step in the life of a child and their family. Staff at SMA are committed to ensuring that their move to secondary school is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We are keen to get to know your child and learn about their interests and talents in order to personalise their learning experience at St Matthew Academy. We have therefore designed a programme of events to help them settle into our community and prepare for their first day at our school in September 2024.

This page contains information for all the families joining the St Matthew Academy community in September 2024. We encourage you to check this page regularly for updates over the course of this academic year.

We are already in contact with families and primary schools to gather as much information as possible about the children coming to us. This is something that we would usually do, and this has not changed.

We are currently planning a number of transition events which begins with ‘Friendship Afternoon’ which takes place on Tuesday 26th March 2024

Parents will also receive an email with a link to complete our online admission information booklet which all parents and carers need to complete. This will provide us with vital information about all the children enroling at SMA, and therefore it is essential that when you receive this you complete it in as much detail as possible.
