A team of ten St Matthew pupils made their way to the first football tournament of 2020.

The team consisted of a mixture of year 3 & 4 pupils, both male and female. The tournament pitted them against a number of other Lewisham Borough schools in 6 –a-side matches.

Everyone was really excited to have been selected and to be given the opportunity to represent the school. When we arrived at the tournament, the team were feeling a little overwhelmed at the number of other teams in attendance, however the nerves quickly went after a 2-0 win in match 1.  Overall, we had 6 matches and came away 3^rd in our group, with 4 strong wins and 2 very well fought losses.

All the pupils showed great determination and teamwork and should be extremely proud of themselves. A special mention goes to Zephan who managed to score an incredible 6 goals through the day.

The sporting calendar this year is once again full with a wide range of sporting opportunities available to our pupils.
