Celebrating The Daily Mile’s 10th Birthday at St Matthew Academy

On Thursday 28th of April, we joined people across the globe in celebrating the 10th Birthday of the Daily Mile.

The Daily Mile was introduced to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances. In order to celebrate this magnificent milestone, we added a bit of sparkle to our daily mile in true St Matthews style with balloon arches, motivational music and a special daily mile t-shirt was given to every pupil to wear for the occasion.

We saw pupils running, walking and talking as they made their way round the course, this demonstrates the inclusively and opportunity to build stronger friendships as they participated in physical activity all together. At the end of the Daily Mile pupils were all so proud of how they had improved! This initiative has inspired our pupils and staff to become more active in and out of school.
