The Scholars Programme (The Brilliant Club) 2020

We are delighted to announce that our Year 10 Brilliant Club pupils have completed their final assignment and have received their marks back; they did outstandingly well. All 10 pupils were awarded either a 2:1 or First class mark for their work. This is a result of their participation and commitment to the work, they completed 6 tutorials with their tutor throughout the Spring term, attendance to these was 100%. The tutor was a PhD student from a top London university and she was highly impressed with the engagement and enthusiasm of the pupils.

Huge congratulations to Elizabeth Obukohwo, Ricardo Pereira, Maria Cheema, Thais Lopez Orbegoso, Malikah Bovell-Christopher and Charley Spaulding at First Class Honours and Radu Dragut, Noel Koroma, Kai Shaw and Edison Molina at Upper Second (2:1).

Two not able successes are the performances of Elizabeth, who scored the top mark, and Thais, who only joined the Academy this year and is not a native English speaker, but was awarded a first for her final assignment.

As school is currently closed we do not have any images to share of this achievement by our amazing pupils but we hope to be able to do so soon. We also look forward to a possible graduation ceremony for the pupils at a later date.

Thank you to the staff at SMA who helped facilitate the sessions and to the class teachers for allowing pupils to miss lessons to take part in tutorials; I am sure you will agree that it was worth the effort. And to the parents/carers whose support was essential in ensuring that final assignments were completed during the school closure period.

Huge congratulations to all; they have been challenged academically and should now have the confidence and belief to aspire to bigger and better things. St Matthew Academy is immensely proud of your achievements and hope you continue to work hard and achieve. Well done for letting your light shine.
