Big Lent Walk

Over the course of three beautiful, sun-drenched days, students from Mandela, Teresa, and Romero Houses -representing both our Primary and Secondary phases - participated in the CAFOD Big Lent Walk.

It was a brilliant opportunity for the academy to come together, get active, and enjoy the fresh air while reflecting on the needs of our global neighbours.

Going the Extra Mile

The dedication shown by our students was nothing short of inspiring. Across the three days of the event, the SMA community covered a total distance of approximately 24km. From our youngest walkers to our senior students, the energy remained high as we navigated the hills of Greenwich Park.

Smashing Our Targets

The primary goal of the Big Lent Walk is to raise funds for CAFOD’s life-changing work in communities facing extreme poverty. We set ourselves a challenging target, and thanks to the incredible generosity of our families, staff, and friends, we are delighted to announce that we raised a total of £202.00!

Surpassing our target by £2.00 is a testament to the "Every Second Counts" attitude that defines St Matthew Academy. Every penny raised will go toward making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Special Guests and Team Spirit

We were especially honoured to welcome Mrs. Susan Elderfield from the Education Service, who joined our walkers on Wednesday. Her presence and support added a wonderful dimension to the day, and we thank her for walking alongside our pupils.

A huge "well done" goes out to all the teachers and pupils who brought such positive vibes and tireless energy to the walk. You have proven that when we walk together, we can truly change the world.
