Enrichment

At St Matthew Academy, we pride ourselves on offering pupils a broad and progressive education and providing quality opportunities for pupils to develop as independent learners and confident, healthy individuals.

Pupils have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities and experience aimed to enhance their learning experience and develop new skills and knowledge.

In addition to lunchtime and after school clubs, educational trips aim to expand pupils understanding of current topics and take place on a termly basis.

We strongly advise your child to attend After School Interventions sessions as they are built to ensure your child develops confidence regarding their learning and is equipped with the core skills and knowledge to successfully access the curriculum.

If you have any questions regarding After School Clubs or Interventions, please email your child’s class teacher.

Breakfast Club

7.30 - 8.50am

St Matthews Academy offers a Breakfast Club for pupils from Reception to Year 6.

Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am to 8:50, providing a welcoming, safe and secure environment until the school day begins. We provide the children with a nutritious breakfast giving them the best start to their day.

Breakfast Club costs £2.50 per day and places must be pre-booked and paid in advance on ParentPay. Pupils that arrive before 8.30am receive a breakfast in accordance with the School Healthy Eating Standards. Items include; a selection of cereals, toast, bagel, omelette, sausage and beans are available daily.

Each term the children celebrate different cultures from ‘Breakfast around the World’ by recreating their traditional breakfasts, this gives the children the opportunity to try different foods from different cultures.

Our breakfast club is not just about providing a breakfast for the children, we also have a set timetable so the children can engage socially with children from other year groups, therefore strengthening relationships in the school community. Please see the timetable below.

After School Clubs

EYFS & KS1:  3.20 - 4.20

KS2: 3.20 - 4.20pm

Our After School Enrichment Programme is designed to offer unique opportunities to develop communication skills, foster talents and refine their creative and sporting talents. All clubs are run by our talented staff who use their specialist knowledge and skills to provide a worthwhile experience for the children that attend.

We are privileged to be able to utilise the fabulous facilities the school has to offer and using the Forest School, Library, Sports pitches and Primary kitchen means the experience for the children is made even more impactful. At the end of each term, all pupils complete a ‘Pupil Voice’ questionnaire on the clubs that they have attended, and we use their feedback to choose the clubs for the following term.

The fee for each club for the term is £10.00. Parents who have signed their children up for an after school club can make a payment via My Child at School (MCAS).
