Olive Dining & OLIO Partnership with St Matthew Academy

We are delighted to update you on our partnership with OLIO –  A Food Waste Heroes Programme which we would like to start at St Matthew Academy this coming term.

OLIO has been designed to facilitate collections from any business that has surplus food (fresh, cold, hot, ambient and frozen), and although at Olive Dining, we pride ourselves on having very little waste, we are keen to have any additional food re-distributed into the surrounding local community to help those in need, especially with the cost of living. This year alone, we have made a substantial contribution to both the community and environment.

There will be no disruption to your school other than a volunteer coming in to collect the food from the canteen.

This person will liaise directly with our chef manager/ catering team on all matters and will only come to collect on Fridays – where surplus food is more likely at the end of the week.

For more information on OLIO, we have attached some documents provided by them. To summarise key benefits to joining the program are to:

  • Eliminate edible food waste whilst support local communities in need
  • Track environmental and social impact of food saved
  • Help to reach carbon net zero and fulfil our businesses sustainability goals
  • Improve on sustainability in the business
