Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision for parents to make; and at St Matthew Academy we are dedicated to making this process as smooth as possible. We are committed to ensuring that every child at St Matthew Academy Primary Phase has an enjoyable school experience and are dedicated to knowing every child’s interests and talents, to foster them and create a personalised learning experience for every child that joins us. If you would like to find out more about the St Matthew Academy offer, meet with myself, see children in lessons and have a tour of our fantastic facilities, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
I look forward to meeting with you.
Lorna Beckley, Head of Primary
We are proud to introduce our unique transition programme, detailed below:
Gruffalo Morning – 20th April
We are incredibly proud of our status as a Forest School; and our Gruffalo morning provides the perfect opportunity to explore our grounds during a Gruffalo hunt! Parents and children are provided with the opportunity to take a look around our fantastic facilities and engage in exciting activities including cookery and crafts. Parents also have the chance to meet with key members of staff and get to know other families joining St Matthew Academy in September.
Welcome Meeting and Mini Master Chef Workshop – 6th June
Families are invited back for a welcome meeting hosted by the Head of School, Head of Primary and Early Years Co-ordinator; to learn more about St Matthew Academy and the transition process for pupils. Pupils will then have the chance to take part in a mini master-chef’ session, cooking alongside their parents in our dedicated kitchen suite located in the primary school.
Stay and Play and First Aid Workshop - 4th July
Children will have the chance to spend the morning in their new classrooms, playing with their new classmates and teachers! Whilst children get to grips with their new learning environment, parents are offered a free, paediatric first aid workshop.
Please keep an eye out for further transition events and workshops for nursery children and parents looking into their local primary provision.
