Opened in September 2007, the St Matthew Academy is a new, mixed, Roman Catholic, 3-16, independent, Specialist Business and Enterprise Academy serving the pleasant suburban area of east Lewisham and the Diocese of Southwark. The school is directly adjacent to Christ the King Sixth Form College with whom we will be forging strong links. The Academy has been built on the playing fields of the old St Joseph's Boys' and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary schools, replacing both schools which closed in July 2007.

The Academy is an exciting, 21st century, educational development, providing a high quality, continuous, catholic and caring education for girls and boys age 3 to 16, with strong links and close familiarity providing a smooth transition at 16, to Christ the King Sixth Form College or other local post-16 education and training providers.
