SMPC (St Matthew Academy Production Company)
The St Matthew Academy Media Centre is a thriving hub of creativity, development and learning. Pupils are offered the opportunity to achieve qualifications and gain invaluable media experience. They are empowered by using industry standard equipment, whilst enhancing their employability and vocational skill-set. This unique learning environment engages with pupils from ages 5-16. There are a range of activities including; film making, photography, editing, animation, design work using 'Photoshop' and 'Illustrator,' acting, sound recording and advertising.
The 'St Matthew Production Company' (SMPC) produce a termly news programme in partnership with the BBC Young Reporter. Pupils in the secondary phase can join the SMPC through taking a test which has been created by current members.
There are only 20 places offered per academic year but after a year in the SMPC, members become alumni and can visit and work in the Media Centre as often as they like to complete projects and additional work.
