Race for Life

Cancer Research: Race for Life

Well done to all pupils and staff who took part in the 5k Race for Life at Blackheath on earlier this month, 1st July. Everyone did extremely well considering it was so hot. We had 15 staff and pupils walking, jogging or running, all to raise money for Cancer Research and all finishing in under an hour.  A particular well done to Elizabeth Obukohwo who took up the challenge of running the whole distance, with some encouragement and support from Ms Baldwin and Ms Jones. Elizabeth completed the race in 31 minutes and 40 seconds. Elizabeth is a keen long distance runner but had never run this distance before - she even managed a sprint finish at the end! Such an achievement in the 30 degree heat. Ms Woodrooffe also had the extra challenge of walking the last mile with her injured daughter on her back - what a hero!

Well done to Maria Cheema, Serena Tanagidah, Paris Agymeang, Ashni Sivanesan, Ms Green and Ms Chen also for completing the run in under 45 minutes. Well done ladies! Look out for details of next year’s race in next year’s school calendar.
