The Challenge
The Challenge: 12 teammates, 3 challenges, 1 unbeatable experience
Students from year 11 are being challenged to take up The Challenge – an exciting opportunity to stretch themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and socially, in the summer after their GCSEs.
The Challenge has three parts:
A personal challenge – a residential programme that gives students the chance to tackle an outdoor challenge such as abseiling, whitewater rafting, climbing and hiking, with some of the best instructors in the UK
A team challenge – living with their team in a flat at university and developing independence by looking after themselves and managing their own food budget, students will take part in an exciting project, choosing between drama, enterprise, media, photography and sport
The ‘real’ challenge – when students put all they have learned into practice designing a project that will make a difference in their area, with four days to put it into practice
‘The aim of the challenge is to give our young people the skills of leadership, teamwork and confidence that will help them stand out in the competitive world of education and work,’ says outdoor education manager Jon Morgan, ‘I would encourage every person in year 11 to take up the offer.’
The Challenge costs justs £50. Interested students should talk to Mr Morgan and visit the website: www.the-challenge.org
