They also saw lizards, cheetahs, camels and husky dogs, as well as meerkats and pigs - and two boa constrictors who you can see in these pictures. They all had a great day and learned alot about birds of prey and how they live.

    Making music with IT

moombacropWe’re always keeping an eye out for ways of using new technology in our teaching and when we were asked to trial Moomba music we jumped at the chance.

The Moomba music system is a display pad, 50 inches wide, which is laid out on a table top and allows up to eight children to discuss and interact with the music based software.

The software immerses children in a journey of musical discovery, using cartoons designed by the team that have worked on Dora the Explorer and Sesame Street.

Children love being able to touch the surface and move the controllers to provide their answers, which have to be decided together – the activity enhances their ability to be creative, to collaborate, take turns and think independently – while having loads of fun along the way.

Every class from reception to year 2 will be using the Moomba programme with music teacher Mr Tettey. As well as giving our students the opportunity to use the latest in interactive music teaching, we will help to make this a better product and will work with the developers Ingenio Education now and into the future.

We're off to see the dinosaurs!

Year 4 students in front of the Natural History MuseumThis week 16 year 4 children from the Literacy Support Group visited the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.  This term they will be working on extended writing about an encounter with a dinosaur.  The visit was to extend their knowledge about dinosaurs and to provide inspiration for their stories.  The children learnt and lot and had a great day.

Alexie Vassell 4E said: "We saw lots of dinosaur bones and a T Rex that was moving.  The T Rex was my favourite thing at the museum.  I had lots of fun and would like to go there again."

Taschean Davonte 4W said: "We saw moving dinosaurs and bones of real dinosaurs that used to be alive.  I know a lot about dinosaurs because I have read a lot about them.  The best things at the museum were the T Rex and the Velociraptor."
