St Matthew Academy GCSE Results
Staff and pupils are celebrating our Year 11’s achievements following the publication of our much improved GCSE results today.
Our provisional headline figure for 5A*-C with English and Maths is 55% which has increased by 15% on last year’s results. We are delighted that St Matthew Academy pupils have made significantly more than expected progress when taking into consideration their starting points in Year 7.
There are many outstanding individual achievements of highly motivated pupils who worked hard consistently to exceed expectation in exams supported by academy staff, and several other pupils achieving successes to be proud of against the odds. Particular congratulations go to Peter Sam with 10 A* and 2 A’s, Kristine Henderson with 5 A* and 7A’s, Max Chau with 5A*, 6A’s and one B, Wilfred De Ley with 4 A*, 5A’s and 3 B’s and Harry Blunt-Bigwood with 9A’s, one B and a C.
The Academy have also been celebrating a great set of Key Stage 2 results published in July. Pupils excelled with 84.7% achieving the expected standard or above in the new maths, spelling, punctuation and grammar assessments.
I would like to offer my congratulations to all the Year 11 pupils for their endeavours this year and thank the staff and parents that have supported our children to ‘let their light shine’. These results provide us with an excellent platform for further rapid improvement as we consolidate and build on the changes that have been implemented since the partnership was formed with Sacred Heart Catholic School, St Thomas the Apostle College.
