Jack Petchey Award
At St Matthew Academy we are proud to be part of the Jack Petchey Award Scheme, in conjunction with the Jack Petchey Foundation
Almost 2,000 schools, colleges and youth organisations throughout London and Essex run the scheme, which contributes millions of pounds each year. The scheme is a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people as well as receive additional funding.
Each month a Student from our school is selected to recieve the award, the award can be given for various reasons from being an outstanding member of our school community, academic achievements, perseverance and the strive to do well within the school. Behaviour is always a factor and the students who win this award are excellent examples to be followed by all students, and thus, their efforts and attitude are rewarded and celebrated through this scheme.
The winner is awarded a prize of £200 to spend how they see fit around the school, the money cannot be used to buy educational equipment such as textbooks, but is often spent on extracurricular clubs to buy extra equipment such as a Guitar which can be used for other less fortunate students to learn on when they cannot afford their own. In other cases the money has been spent to reward other students with a trip outside of school.
Erica is an outstanding member of the Year 7 community, she attends many extracurricular activities and is always ready to support her peers. Erica is an amazing role model for the year group.
Erica will be putting her reward money towards the annual progress award trip. This will allows all students that have progressed the most to celebrate in style.
