Chaplains in the local community

Chaplaincy in the Local Community:

St Matthew Academy is blessed by the support of many in our community. Monsignor Rothon, our Chair of Governor’s and Parish Priest visits SMA every week and celebrates Mass for the Academy community throughout the year.

Bishop Patrick Lynch welcomes Year 7 and their families and all staff on the first day of term every year.

Fr. Arbo is currently supporting SMA as we make plans to establish an SMA Justice and Peace team.

The Sisters of St Andrew are our neighbours and support SMAs spiritual growth through prayer and regular visits to the Academy.

Sister Pius and Sister Elizabeth, Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary, join the Academy community every Tuesday for the celebration of Mass.

… and in April 2015 we are delighted to host four Parish Confirmation groups  of approximately 80 young people from St Mary’s, Blackheath; St Augustines, Beckenham Hill; St John Fisher, Kidbrooke and St Peter’s, Woolwich coming together for a Day Retreat, facilitated by the Diocesan Catholic Youth Service ‘St Vincent’s’ Team.
