New head boy and girl

Now that the first true St Matthew Academy intake has reached year 11, and the school is now entirely populated with SMA students, the first head boy and girl appointments have been made.

Members of year 11 were asked to apply through a proper appointments process, and a shortlist of applicants was interviewed by the principal and vice-principal. It was such a strong field that in the end they decided to appoint both a head boy and girl, and a deputy head boy and girl. The successful candidates are:

Head boy - Michael Maquieira

Head girl - Taylor-Dior Rumble

Deputy head boy - Jerry Deve

Deputy head girl - Samantha Taylor

Their role is to represent the school wherever necessary and to be ambassadors for the school in the local community which Michael and Sam did very ably on when they were interviewed on BBC London's breakfast programme just before Christmas. They are pictured, left, with presenters Gaby Roslin and Paul Ross.
